EHNAC Executive Director to Present at Upcoming TAWPI Educational Sessions
Lee Barrett to Host Panels Covering the State-level Perspectives of HITECH Act; Privacy and Security in Healthcare
FARMINGTON, Conn. – July 20, 2009 – The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC), a non-profit standards development organization and accrediting body, today announced that Executive Director Lee Barrett will host and present at two educational sessions at upcoming TAWPI (The Association for Work Process Improvement) conferences.
“These are uncertain times for our nation’s healthcare leaders, with dozens of questions that remain unanswered,” said Barrett. “EHNAC is proud to present at the upcoming TAWPI educational sessions to further the discussion and provide solutions to some of the recurring privacy and security challenges as we move forward under ARRA (American Recovery and Reinvestment) and HITECH (Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health) legislation.”

Session title: State Perspective on ARRA and the HITECH Act including HIPAA Privacy/Security
Summary: Barrett and a panel of state regulators who are involved with various state-level HIT initiatives will provide an important perspective on the proactive roles they are taking with ARRA and the HITECH Act and the
importance of third-party accreditation to assist with emerging oversight and compliance challenges.
