EHNAC, WEDI to accredit practice systems

Electronic health record certification has become critical to physician practices, but when it comes to another key piece of software for providers, assurance of of quality and functionality has not been so widely available.

“It’s going to be important for providers to know that their practice management systems vendors are willing and able to attain accreditation,” said Lee Barrett, executive director of the Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission. To that end, EHNAC aligned with the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange to create the Practice Management Systems Accreditation Program and announced the PMSAP at HIMSS14 on Thursday.
