EHNAC and HBMA partner to offer accreditation program for medical billers

The Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission (EHNAC) and the Healthcare Billing & Management Association (HBMA) have announced a collaboration to accredit medical billers in the areas of privacy, security, confidentiality, cybersecurity, business best practices and technical operations.

Through this partnership, EHNAC and HBMA will jointly offer the Healthcare Network Accreditation Program (HNAP) for Medical Billers, which includes exclusive discounts to HBMA member organizations. The medical biller accreditation reviews compliance with all HIPAA, HITECH Omnibus Rule, ARRA and ACA legislative provisions, as well as risk mitigation policies, procedures and controls to significantly reduce the risk of breach, incident or cybercrime. The program is designed for companies that handle sensitive data as part of their coding, billing and other services on behalf of provider organizations including physician practices and hospitals, as well as health systems, labs and other types of healthcare organizations.
