New Commissioner: Greg Fisher

FARMINGTON, Conn. - Greg Fisher is currently Director of EDI Strategy and Business Development at UnitedHealthcare.  His current role involves planning EDI growth activities, managing EDI vendor contracting, and long term planning for EDI standards and interoperability for UHC and its affiliated companies.

Mr. Fisher has been involved in healthcare EDI for 24 years, as a technician and as a subject matter expert at UnitedHealthcare and Travelers Insurance companies.  He has worked on various internal projects involving disability management, Medicare and commercial health claim systems.  He led a business analysis team that provided initial specifications for the conversion to the 4010a1 HIPAA claim transactions, as well as providing guidance on the interpretation of the HIPAA regulations for Transactions and Code Sets. 

His recent roles have involved strategic EDI planning, and establishing an EDI Forum at UHC to enable the free flow of EDI-related information throughout the company.  He is also actively coordinating within UHC all the various memberships on technical and industry committees that involved in EDI standardization and interoperability.

Mr. Fisher has been involved with WEDI and X12 for 8 years, serving on committees for claims attachments and electronic remittances.  He is a graduate of Dartmouth College.
