ePAP assesses your electronic prescribing and fax-based prescribing transactions for compliance with industry standards and use of NCPDP, X12 and HL7 formats. ePAP accreditation from EHNAC will also give your existing and prospective customers confidence that you meet all necessary standards for transaction timeliness, security and privacy with new prescriptions and renewals. In the process of a thorough, objective ePAP evaluation, your organization will discover ways to improve efficiency; elevate quality of service, and keep up-to-date with current marketplace trends. ePAP accreditation criteria is established for pharmacy vendors/electronic health networks in categories including transmission of data, privacy, security, timeliness, accuracy, system availability, industry compliance, capacity monitoring, use of the Internet, and storage and retrieval.
EHNAC’s ePAP program:
- Reduces risk to PHI and operations through the demonstration of a risk management program with effective controls that appropriately minimize threats.
- Prepares your organization for third party audits including HIPAA/HITECH compliance audits that are now being conducted for the Office of Civil Rights (OCR); Trading partner audits (some payers require EHNAC accreditation as a condition of processing their transactions); and state compliance (EHNAC accreditation is required for processing healthcare transactions in the states of Maryland and New Jersey).
